i'm back from los angeles, and it's raining here in seattle again. i really hope it's not the end of summer already. but these 4 fleece tops sure do look cozy for the fall.

weekend

camping again! this time with the youth group at jarrell cove state park - and we were so blessed to have sunshine with no sign of rain. it was also the first time camping for the dogs. seems like they enjoyed themselves quite a bit. =)

zucchini!

i got this humungous zucchini from lopez island for 50 cents (the 2nd picture is only half of it). at first i didn't understand how i got the best deal ever - but now i can see why people would basically give these things away for free. there is just SO MUCH of it and then some. we grilled half of it last night, i just made 2 loaves of zucchini bread (adding in chocolate chips), and there is still 1/4 of it left. that's a whole lotta squash.

yesterday chloe ran off and chased this poor little cat up a tree.

haha it must've been freaked out because it was stuck up there for quite some time. hope it got down ok!

lopez island: the "friendly isle"

one of my favorite camping trips of all time! farms and friendliness galore on the island, no joke. on friday we waded into the water at spencer spit and picked crab right out of the water. then we made the most delicious fresh dungeness crab + arugula salad tossed with some locally-made dressing (so yummy that we all went back the next day and bought bottles to bring home). on saturday i also collected some random squash while biking to the shark reef (where we saw tons of seals but no sharks). so glad cathy rememberd her camera because i forgot mine!

summer potluck

we had a little potluck at vicky's tonight and everyone brought such summery dishes! i finally got to make this (in my purple pot!) except it isn't really a succotash at all because i left out the lima beans. it basically turned into an orzo salad with bacon, tomatoes, sweet onions, fresh corn, edamame and basil.
