while in LA, i also spent a couple hours one afternoon at the getty museum (it was not nearly enough time and i want to go back!) i don't even think i saw half the exhibits because i was just wandering around outside....it's so beautiful! and it's absolutely free - all you have to pay is $15 for parking and a tram takes you to the museum at the top of the hill. then there's this awesome view of LA + malibu + the ocean...and gardens + fountains + terraces....and actual art of course. =) i can't wait to go back.
